RFID technology in now integrated into our solvent and chemical-resistant labels and are suitable for a variety of applications where visual and electronic data require chemical resistance and maximum traceability to ensure a high level of regulatory compliance.

These RFID labels have a robust chemical-resistant adhesive and display extended adhesion properties, even in the harshest environments. These labels are intended for use on surfaces that will undergo extended exposure to chemicals and solvents, such as bulk containers, drums, gallon buckets, and glass reagent bottles.

These labels are compatible with handheld, fixed, or integrated UHF RFID readers. They were specially designed to integrate with tracking and chemical inventory management systems, to improve the identification and monitoring of each sample, as well as process efficiency. When printed with our recommended XAR-class of ink ribbons, the visual and electronic components of these labels resist continuous rubbing and immersion in harsh chemicals. These UHF RFID labels (Class 1, Gen 2) can be printed and encoded with up to 32 hexadecimal characters of information using dedicated RFID thermal-transfer printers. Chemical-resistant RFID labels’ color and size can be customized upon request.

* Read range can vary according to the RFID reader being used. Labels should not be enclosed by metal surfaces as this may cause interference that can affect their ability to be scanned/read

Benefits:

  • 12” omnidirectional read range*, without direct line-of-sight ensures quick, easy, and accurate reading from every angle
  • Read multiple labeled containers at the same time
  • Withstand exposure and long-term immersion in harsh chemicals and solvents
  • Strong permanent adhesive adheres to flat plastic and glass surfaces

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, these RFID labels are thermal-transfer printable and require an ink ribbon to be printed. To achieve the proper printout, these labels require a xylene and solvent-resistant XAR-Class ink ribbon of the same width or larger.

Yes, an RFID printer can accurately encode these labels when printing. For a list of recommended RFID printers, please refer to our RFID printers page.

Yes, specialized software is required to properly encode your labels. We would recommend BarTender Pro and ZebraDesigner3 Pro.

They can be affixed onto flat and curved plastic and glass surfaces, such as bottles, bulk containers, drums, and gallon buckets. These RFID labels are not designed for metal surfaces. Please contact us for metal surface RFID identification solutions.

Printed ZRF3-XAL label are rated to withstand up to 6 hours of continuous immersion in ethanol, isopropanol, DMSO, MEK, and up to 24 hours immersion in xylene. Thorough testing under user’s conditions is recommended.

Yes, the labels do not acquire colors from cosmetic and textile industrial stain dyes and colorants. Prior testing is strongly recommended.

Yes, ZRF3-XAL- class RFID labels can be read while the labeled items are immersed (up to 1”/25 mm) in chemicals and solvents, such as xylene when using our recommended UHF RFID reader. Prior testing of RFID readability while immersed in other liquids is strongly recommended.

Yes, these RFID labels can withstand extended exposure to dry high-heat conditions, up to +85°C/+185°F. These RFID labels are not compatible with heating in microwaves.

Yes, an RFID reader is required to access the encoded data. It can be hand-held, fixed, or integrated, depending on your application. For a list of recommended hand-held RFID readers, please refer to our RFID readers page.

These RFID labels can be read within a maximum of 12” (30 cm) away from the reader, in any direction. However, the read range can vary according to the RFID reader being used.

Yes, these RFID labels are compatible with both regulations, using an UHF reader capable of reading the frequency band.

No, these labels employ UHF RFID technology and thus cannot be read by NFC-capable phones. Thus, a dedicated UHF RFID reader is needed. For labels customized with NFC RFID technology, contact our technical support team.

The UHF RFID chip (Class 1, Gen2) of the RFID XyliTUFF labels can be encoded with up to 32 hexadecimal characters.

Yes, ZRF3-XAL- class RFID labels contain read-write UHF RFID chips. Thus, you can rewrite the EPC memory bank up to 100,000 times if the permalock feature is not active.

Yes, you can scan/read multiple RFID labels at the same time within the interrogation timeout (in seconds), even without a direct line-of-sight of the UHF RFID reader.

No, ZRF3-XAL- class RFID labels are battery-free. These labels don’t require a battery to be functional because they employ passive RFID technology.

Yes, we can provide our chemical-resistant RFID labels preprinted with full-color graphics and logos, as well as variable or serialized information from a database. Learn more about our custom printing options.

Please consult our  technical support team for details regarding custom encoding and other customization options, such as size.
